I am Sid Spanos. I work in IT, AV and automation, based in Huddinge, just outside Stockholm.
Twenty years of that has been infrastructure and end-user support, and a good stretch of it in places where the system had to work at a specific hour in front of a room full of people who had not come to watch it fail.
Where that happened
Eleven years as IT and AV Manager at Clarion Hotel Sign in Stockholm, running the estate for a 558-room hotel and the conference operation attached to it. Conference AV is a useful teacher: there is no maintenance window, the deadline is the start of the session, and every fault is in public. Before that, IT consultancy and systems work across several countries, including running my own IT services business.

What I work on now
Platform
Kubernetes built from the metal up, containers on self-hosted infrastructure, and the network design underneath both.
Endpoint management
JAMF administration across managed Apple estates, plus the documentation and diagram work that makes an estate operable by someone who did not build it.
Automation
Local-first tooling — offline model serving, scripted operations, and command surfaces that remove the manual steps nobody wants to repeat at 2am.
AV
Live and installed systems. The half of this trade where the failure mode is 200 people watching a blank screen.
Background
BSc in Systems, Networking and LAN/WAN Management from the University of Southampton, after IT and Computing Studies at the University of New South Wales. English fluent, Swedish basic and improving more slowly than I would like.
How I work
Verify rather than assume — the high-availability claim you have not tested is a rumour, and the performance problem is in the rack more often than anyone expects. Document it so somebody else can run it. Prefer things I can host, inspect and switch off myself.
